Engage Mountain Maryland recently submitted a grant application to the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) for a welcome conference as part of their economic initiative, Adventure Capital. The nonprofit has laid out a plan to attract 21st Century employment opportunities to Garrett County by luring broadband-connected business from metropolitan areas.
A brief presentation was made to the Garrett County Commissioners at their April 17 public meeting to talk about the conference goals that would include familiarization tours, adventure tours, keynote speakers, and a chance for CEOs to learn what all Garrett County can offer from lifestyle to financial savings. The program targets existing companies that want to expand or relocate, and startups looking for an affordable business home.
A request for $25,000 in matching funds is estimated for the conference that is planned for fall of 2019.
