Only 22.7% of Garrett County registered voters participated in the Primary Election process. That's not good. That means that over 75% of our registered voters didn't make their voices heard or worse didn't even care to vote. :( One tangible result is that the Republican election for County Commissioner in District 3 resulted in only a 66 vote spread. Could the results have been different if more people voted? We will never know, I guess. The reasons for people not voting that I have heard include apathy, not having enough time, not having enough knowledge on the candidates, and/or not being able to vote outside ones political party/designation in the primaries. What are the reasons you have heard for people not voting? More importantly, WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT THIS? We need EVERYONE to vote and be counted in the General Elections in November!!
