A NextEra Energy Open House was held in Friendsville, Maryland, on May 6 between 3:00 and 7:00 PM. Hundreds came out to learn more about where proposed transmission lines would traverse Garrett and Allegany Counties, with a big concern for sensitive areas and privately owned property.
Hear about the project directly from NextEra Energy representative, Kaitlin McCormick, and from some area residents who had many questions to which they sought answers.
Friendsville was the second location in a series of eight Open House events in areas impacted by the transmission line proposal. Other past events were in Slanesville, WV, Lonaconing, MD, and Wiley Ford, WV. Upcoming Open Houses in May are listed below.
As a result of transmission line development and expanding data center high energy demands, PowerUP For Our Future, a new multi-state coalition, has formed. PowerUp helps inform residents within this region, especially those directly affected, about ongoing developments. The organization provides information and agency and amplifies opposition to corporate strongholds in states falling prey to sales propaganda and corporate aggression.
